Athletic Programs

D.A.Y.O. offers a variety of youth athletic programs designed to help children and teens learn new skills, build confidence, stay active, and experience the value of teamwork. Each program provides a positive environment where athletes can grow through practice, competition, sportsmanship, and community support.

Basketball

The D.A.Y.O. Basketball program gives athletes the opportunity to play organized, competitive basketball during the winter season. Players develop fundamental skills, conditioning, teamwork, and confidence while learning the value of individual effort within a team environment.

The season helps athletes grow both physically and mentally, with a focus on skill development, sportsmanship, and positive competition.

Cheerleading

The Danbury Trojans Cheerleading program gives athletes the opportunity to build confidence, teamwork, discipline, and school spirit while supporting the Danbury Trojans football program.

Cheerleaders learn cheers, routines, movement, coordination, and performance skills in a structured team environment. As a Pop Warner program, athletes may also have opportunities to participate in competitions throughout the season.

The program is designed to help cheerleaders grow in skill, confidence, leadership, and teamwork.

All-Girls Flag Football

NFL Flag Football is a spring program designed as an introduction to football for boys and girls. The program focuses on passing, catching, running, teamwork, and learning the basic fundamentals of the game in a safe, non-contact format.

Players participate in weekly practices and games while developing confidence, sportsmanship, and a love for the game.

NFL Flag Football

Played in the spring and designed to be an introduction to football with an emphasis on passing, catching and learning the basic fundamentals of the game.  There are three divisions of play for boys and girls ages 5 - 14, playing 7 x 7.  All divisions use flags that stop play when an opponent removes flag from the belt.  Games are played on Sunday's at Kaplanis Field at Broadview Middle School from May - June.  All players receive a reversible jersey that represents and NFL team. Teams practice once a week.

Pop Warner Tackle Football

D.A.Y.O. is proud to sponsor the Danbury Trojans Pop Warner Youth Football program, a nationally recognized program with a long tradition of excellence. Tackle Football provides athletes with the opportunity to learn football fundamentals, conditioning, teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. Players develop skills by position, learn game strategy, and build confidence through practice and competition. The program emphasizes safety, proper technique, physical fitness, commitment, and character development.

Danbury Youth Lacrosse

Danbury Youth Lacrosse introduces athletes to the fundamentals of lacrosse in a positive and encouraging environment. Players learn skills such as scooping, cradling, catching, passing, shooting, offense, defense, and game rules. The program supports both new and returning players, helping athletes build confidence, improve their skills, and prepare for competitive play.

DAYO T-Ball

D.A.Y.O. T-Ball introduces young athletes to the basics of baseball in a fun, encouraging, and instructional environment. Players learn throwing, catching, batting, running the bases, teamwork, and basic game awareness. The program is non-competitive and focuses on learning, participation, and building confidence. For many children, T-Ball is their first team sports experience and a great introduction to cooperation, sportsmanship, and active play.

DAYO Lightning Youth Track & Field

The D.A.Y.O. Lightning Youth Track & Field program helps athletes build strength, endurance, speed, technique, and confidence. Practices are designed to support proper form and skill development while introducing athletes to running events, race strategy, starts, breathing techniques, and field events. The program promotes fitness, teamwork, self-esteem, and personal growth. D.A.Y.O. Lightning may offer seasonal opportunities throughout the year, including spring, summer, and winter indoor training.

Speed & Agility Training

Speed & Agility Training helps athletes improve conditioning, footwork, balance, coordination, quickness, and overall athletic performance. This program is a great opportunity for athletes from multiple sports to stay active, build confidence, and prepare for the upcoming season.
