Words Matter
I want to take a moment to address an important expectation
regarding how we speak about our athletes.
Conversations on the sidelines, in the stands, or nearby are often heard by players and can have a real impact, whether intended or not.
Because of this, there should be no negative talk about teammates from players or adults. This includes comments about performance, effort, ability, or mistakes.
This expectation not only applies to interactions involving athletes, but also extends to coaches, parents, family members, officials, and other spectators. We expect all communication and behavior surrounding our program to reflect respect, sportsmanship, and support for everyone involved.
Please Bring Concerns Privately
If there are concerns about playing time, development, or team matters, those conversations should be directed privately to the coaching staff, not discussed publicly or around the athletes.
When Expectations Are Not Followed
Failure to follow this expectation will result in action being taken by the coaching staff and/or DAYO Board once escalated. This may include a warning, removal from the sidelines, or further disciplinary steps, including removal from DAYO programs for family members and athletes as deemed necessary.
These steps may be taken to protect our programs, athletes, and the DAYO brand while fostering a team environment for all those who comply.
