Hubert Parris  - Commissioner, Coach, Sprints & Field Events

Coach Parris is one of the founding members of our program. He has been coaching youth sports since 2003, and has been USA Track and Field Level 1 certified, since 2010.  He started coaching track and field as an assistance with the White Plains Future Stars in 2010. His sons are DAYO Lightning alumni and now runs for Brookfield High School.  His Daughter  who got him started in coaching track, completed her undergraduate degree at Boston University in 2017,where she was on the 4 x 400 M relay team that broke the school record.  Coach Parris brings passion to teaching young athletes proper technique and loves to help each athlete realize their unique ability and  potential. 

Coach Parris played football at New Rochelle High Schools, and Central Ct. State University.  
Hubert is happily married and has four wonderful children.  Hubert stays actively involved with his church, and is a Financial Planner with Barnum Financial Group.

Darren Joseph - Coach, Distance & Field Events

Coach Joseph has been with the program since its inception in 2011 and has over 25 years of experience working with youth organizations in CT and NY in a variety of roles.  He is the current Commissioner of DAYO Football, andhas been involved as a coach and parent volunteer with D.A.Y.O. for the past 13 years, coaching T-Ball, Flag Football, and Tackle Football, in addition to his work with Track & Field.  Most recently, Coach Joseph was selected as a Coach to represent the New England Region at the Hershey North America Final Track and Field event in Hershey, PA. He continues to enjoy volunteering and welcomes the opportunity to introduce children to the sport of Track and Field and build character though competition and hard work.

As a past competitive Track and Field runner, coach Joseph was part of a relay team that holds the 4 x 440 record at The Armory Track in NYC. Darren is a Network Infrastructure  Engineer. 

Michael Scappaticci- Coach, Distance

Coach "Scap" is in his first year as a coach but has been involved  in Track and cross country for the past five years. Three of his children Ryan, Maya, and Leyna are on the Lightning team, and his oldest child Alyssa is a Lightning alumnus and runs for Danbury High School.   Through Coach Scap's years of involvement in the development of his own children he has garnered valuable skills that are welcomed assets he brings to our coaching staff.
Michael is happily married and have four wonderful children. Michael is a Athletic Trainer in New York    

Walt Gunter - Coach, Jumps and Sprints / Webpage Director 

Coach Gunter has been with the  program since its inception in 2011 and has been a coach and mentor in Danbury for over 15 years.  Coach Gunter ran his high school track in Philadelphia, PA, competing in the 60M, 100M, 200M, High Jump, Long Jump, and Triple Jump and also competed for two years in college at the University of Maryland - Eastern Shore.  He enjoys actively participating with the athletes during practice to create a fun, competitive, environment as they strive to reach their individual and team goals.  Coach Gunter is happily married and his daughter, Sarae, is a DAYO Lightning Alum and runs Indoor & Outdoor Track at Danbury High School.

Catrina Watson  - Team Mom / Administrative Director

Team Mom Watson has been with the program since its inception in 2011 and plays a key role in coordinating team activities and parent interaction during practices and meets.  Her son, Terrell, is a DAYO Lightning Alum and runs Cross Country, Indoor and Outdoor Track at Danbury High School.


Christine Bonansinga  - Team Mom / Administrative Director

Team Mom Bonansinga is entering her second year with the program and will also coordinate team activities and parent interaction during practices and meets. Her son Chris is a current member of our team.
