Spring Sports Update

The spread of COVID 19 has has an affect on how we are living our daily lives. Back in February no one expected the enormity of the issue we would be facing nor did anyone expect it would continue into the summer.
We had hopes we would be in a position to have spring sports whether it be delayed starts or a modified version of our schedules.  The Governor of CT and City officials have been diligent in their efforts to slow the spread of the virus and we may soon be at a point when we will start to see a reduction of new cases and hospitalizations.  None the less, we can not see  City facilities opening up before July at the earliest.
Based on information we have available today the DAYO Board of Directors and our sports commissioners have decided it would be in the best interest of all to  cancel our spring sports season.
These are the following actions we will be taking.  Lacrosse, Track & Field, T-Ball and Flag Football are cancelled. Each commissioner for respective sport will notify you with details or options on how this will occur. LAX, Rich Fournier, [email protected], T & F,Hubert Parris. [email protected], T-Ball, Melissa Llera, [email protected] and Flag, Ryan Saunders, [email protected]
Each sport commissioner will direct the DAYO board the agreed method of refunding your registration fees less any fees through our partner Sports Connect if you registered on line,
If you registered in person and paid by cash or check we will mail you your refund at the address on the form.  Lacrosse will do same through their web site, LAX,
There are still some unanswered questions regarding on line fees which we are working to resolve with our vendors.  As you can imagine these are circumstances no one anticipated and everyone is having to modify some of their normal operating procedures.
We are waiting for more direction from them.
On a more positive note we will be looking extend the fall T-Ball season with potential start date in August running through early October.  We expect to have a summer Track & Field program and we may have a Speed & Agility/Skills camp in July for all Flag and Football athletes looking to get into shape for fall sports.  All of this is based on what direction we are given by the authorities as we move closer to easing restrictions and hopefully get back to a more normal life style.
We appreciate your patience through these trying times and hope everyone stays safe.
Hope to see all of you soon.
Stay Safe
